Design Patterns for Dummies

I've personally been a fan of Microsoft's "How Do I?" videos. Since I'm more of a learn-by-doing programmer, they give me a hands-on feel where I can code along with the video. If MS does the same for design pattern intros I think that would be a step in the right direction.

Americans should adopt European work culture

I think if any progress is going to be made towards a better work culture, it has to start with the workers. People need to take ownership of their own careers and not just settle for a job b/c of the money, even though you have to work insane hours for that money. Having that life balance should be the number one priority for anyone, and if your current job is forcing you towards imbalance, look elsewhere. Organizations will soon realize that they are losing good workers for more attractive positions, and be forced to change their thinking in order to keep good talent under their roof.
